Since 1997 the US Department of State has listed 58 foreign terrorist organizations, plus another eleven that have since been delisted[1]. Presently, there are 24 such organizations designated by the US Department of State as Middle Eastern terrorists groups, two of which are referred to as “World Wide”[2]. While terror is often defined regionally, this website, “War on Terror,” is concerned primarily with Middle Eastern extremist groups, their origins, political alliances, activities, and motivations.
